History

Daisen-ji is located in the middle of Daisen, and was opened as a training area for shugendo, in the 7th century. is a volcanic mountain located in Tottori Prefecture, Japan. It has an elevation of 1729 metres is an ancient Japanese religion in which Enlightenment or oneness with kami is obtained through the study of the relationship between Man and Nature. After the 9th century, this temple came under the control of the Tendai Buddhist sect as one of the most important of its centers in this region. History The Tiantai teaching was first brought to Japan by the Chinese monk Jianzhen (鑑眞 Jp Ganjin in the middle of the 8th century, but The head monk, or Zashu, of this temple had been sent from the Enryaku-ji in Kyoto, the headquarter of Tendai sect.
