Ayesha Asantewaa (b. Harlesden, London, 1988) is a disco jockey and television presenter for BBC 1Xtra and CBBC. Ayesha attended Blaze Radio Summer School with Preston Manor High School, where she learnt to present radio, make vox pops and idents, and packages.
At age 15, she gained work experience at BBC 1Xtra and subsequently entered the Xtra Talent competition at 16 to become a DJ on the same station. She was offered a month on the Xtra Talent slot (September 2004) on Sundays 3-6am and was then given her own slot on Saturday Mornings from 6-9am aged 17.
Since January 2006 she has also presented BBC 7's Big Toe Radio Show on Mondays and Tuesdays from 4-6pm alongside various co-presenters including Kirsten O'Brien. Jez Edwards, Kevein Duala and Barney Harwood.
While juggling all these jobs, Ayesha is now a presenter on Cbeebies radio,(also on BBC7) due to broadcast in March 2007 until foreseeable future.
Ayesha has also been a member of St. John Ambulance for 8 years and is qualified in first aid. St John Ambulance, branded as St John in some territories is a common name used by a number of affiliated organizations in different countries dedicated to the teaching and She is part of a Samba drumming group called Unaio da Mocidace and will be performing a number of gigs in summer 2007, whilst presenting DSD (Do Something Different) with Sam Nixon and Mark Rhodes throughout the holidays.
