Inspired by visits to techno parties in his home town Frankfurt, Germany, Benjamin Arend began producing his own tracks at age 18 and uploaded them to the then popular site mp3.com. MP3com is a Web site operated by CNET Networks providing information about digital music and artists songs services community and technologies He quickly gained the reputation of being one of the greatest new talents, and as a result started his DJ career.
From the beginning he played a very hard style, and he is regarded as one of the founding fathers of the German Hardtechno scene, which itself derived from Schranz. Hardtechno refers to a style of Techno which evolved after 2000 from Schranz and Hardcore Techno. Schranz is a European (especially German) variant of hard style Techno music. He has since played at many big festivals in Europe, such as I Love Techno, Awakenings, Decibel, Q-Base, and Time Warp. I Love Techno is an international techno event that takes place in Flanders Expo in Ghent, Belgium. As of 2007, he runs three record labels as well as a booking agency for Techno DJs and continues to enjoy popularity as a DJ.
