DATACOM/DB was a database management system of the inverted file type. A database management system ( DBMS) is Computer software designed for the purpose of managing Databases DBMSes may use any of a variety of Data models In Information technology, an inverted index (also referred to as postings file or inverted file) is an index data structure storing a mapping ^[1] Acquired by Applied Data Research, it is now owned by Computer Associates and is sold under the name of CA Datacom. Applied Data Research (ADR was a large Software vendor from the 1960s until the mid 1980s and is "often described as "the first software vendor" CA Inc &mdash formerly Computer Associates Inc &mdash is a multinational Computer software corporation headquartered in Islandia New York.
