D. J. Tanner was the oldest sister in the Tanner family. She was the daughter of Pamela and Danny Tanner; her younger sisters were Stephanie Tanner and Michelle Tanner. J. is the only character to not appear in every episode; she was not in the season 6 episode Subterranean Graduation Blues. In the episode, Steve tells the family that D. J. is "away on a ski trip" as an explanation for her absence.
- The family thinks D. J. is eloping one day so they go to see her and tell her not to get married but it turns out that the one who was getting married was Kimmy Gibbler.
