He made his debut in first-class cricket for The Gentlemen of England in 1908. His last major match (though not first-class) was a two-day fixture in 1928 in which he played for the Civil Service cricket team against the touring West Indians. He was born at Elvet Hill, County Durham, England and was educated at Blundell's School. Elvet Hill is located on the south bank of the River Wear in the city of Durham, in County Durham, in England. England is a Country which is part of the United Kingdom. During his time as Registrar of the Probate and Divorce Registry, he was joint editor of the Seventh Edition of William Rayden's Practice and law in the Divorce Division of the High Court of Justice and on appeal therefrom, published in 1958 by Butterworth.
