Cyril Norman Reed (10 July 19066 July 1991) was an Indian born cricketer[1] who in addition to playing ten first-class matches in India between 1928 and 1948,[2] also played Minor counties cricket for Bedfordshire and international cricket for the Federated Malay States and the Straits Settlements. Born in Poona (now Pune), India,[4] Cyril Reed's cricket career began in England, where he played for Bedfordshire in the Minor Counties Cricket Championship between 1924 and 1927. In December 1928, he made his first-class debut when he played for the Europeans in the Bombay Quadrangular tournament. The Bombay Quadrangular was an influential Cricket tournament held in Bombay, India (now known as Mumbai from 1912 to 1936 [2] He played some more minor counties cricket for Bedfordshire in 1932,[5] and played for the Federated Malay States against the Straits Settlements in 1933, scoring 218 in the first innings of the match, the highest score in the history of the fixture, which continues to this day as the Saudara Cup match between Malaysia and Singapore. The Madras Presidency Matches were annual First-class cricket matches played in Madras (now Chennai from the 1915-16 season to 1951-52 between the cricket teams of The Tamil Nadu cricket team is one of the Elite Group Cricket teams of the Ranji Trophy, the top cricketing competition in India.
