The Cyprus Rally is a rallying competition held yearly in Cyprus since 1970. Rallying is a form of motor competition that takes place on public or private roads with modified production or specially built road-legal cars Cyprus (Κύπρος transliterated: Kýpros,; Kıbrıs officially the Republic of Cyprus (Κυπριακή Δημοκρατία Kypriakī́ Dīmokratía The event is run by the Cyprus Automobile Association[1] and is based in the city of Limassol (Lemesos). The Cyprus Automobile Association (CAA is a non-profit organization governed by an elected council Limassol or Lemesos ( Greek: Λεμεσός, Lemesos; Turkish: Limasol, alt Limassol or Lemesos ( Greek: Λεμεσός, Lemesos; Turkish: Limasol, alt It is run on the winding gravel roads of the nearby mountains of Troodos. Troodos is the biggest Mountain range of Cyprus, located in the center of the island It was part of the FIA's World Rally Championship from 2000 to 2006. History Early The World Rally Championship was formed from well-known international rallies nine of which were previously part of the International Championship The 2000 World Rally Championship season cumulated in the following statistical results and thus these Rally Winners The 2006 World Rally Championship season began on January 20 with the 74th Monte Carlo Rally. In 2007, the event was part of the FIA Middle East Rally Championship. The Middle East Rally Championship (MERC is one of the official annual rally championships run by the FIA. The same applies for 2008. It is due to rejoin the World Rally Championship in 2009.
