Cornelius Comegys Jadwin was born in Carbondale, Pennsylvania. Carbondale is a city in Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania, United States. He attended the common schools and taught school for four years. He studied civil engineering and pharmacy. He entered the drug business and located in Honesdale, Pennsylvania, in 1862. Honesdale is the County seat of Wayne County Pennsylvania and is located 32 miles (52 km northeast of Scranton. He served on the board of education of his district for nine years and was president for three years. He was a delegate to the 1880 Republican National Convention.
