Cormac Fitzgeoffrey is a fictional character created by Robert E. Howard. Robert Ervin Howard ( January 22 1906 &ndash June 11 1936) was an American pulp writer of Fantasy, He is a half-Norman, half-Gael taking part in the Third Crusade. The Normans were the people who gave their names to Normandy, a region in northern France. The Third Crusade (1189&ndash1192 also known as the Kings' Crusade, was an attempt by European leaders to reconquer the Holy Land from Saladin Howard wrote two short stories featurig the character and synopsis that was later completed by another author. Although Howard was most famous for his fantasy fiction, especially Conan the Barbarian, the Cormac stories have a purely historical setting, albeit one with a heroic theme.
