Route Description
Route 33 begins at an intersection with Route 136 and I-95 in Westport. Route 136 is a state highway in southwestern Connecticut, running from Darien to Easton. Interstate 95, the main north-south Interstate Highway on the East Coast of the United States, runs in a general east-west compass direction for 111 [1] It heads north, intersecting with US 1, Route 57, and Route 15 before crossing into Norwalk. US Route 1 (US 1 is a major north-south US Highway that serves the East Coast of the United States. Route 57 is a secondary state highway in western Connecticut serving as the "Main Street" of and connecting the towns of Westport and Weston Route 15 is a State highway in the US state of Connecticut that runs 83 Norwalk is a city in Fairfield County, Connecticut, United States. Route 33 barely crosses the northeastern corner of Norwalk before continuing into Wilton. Wilton is a town in Fairfield County, Connecticut, in the United States.
In Wilton, Route 33 heads northwest, crossing Route 53 before joining US 7 and Route 106, in that order, to form a triple concurrency. Route 53 is a state highway in the US state of Connecticut, connecting the cities of Norwalk and Danbury. US Route 7 is a north-south United States highway in the New England region that runs for from Norwalk Connecticut to northern Vermont. Route 106 is a State highway in southwestern Connecticut, running from Stamford to Wilton. Route 33 continues northwest and west before turning north into Ridgefield.
In Ridgefield, Route 33 continues north to end at an intersection with Route 35. Route 35 is State highway in Connecticut, located entirely within the town of Ridgefield.

History
Route 33 was commissioned in 1932 from parts of former 1920s state highways 304 and 176. In 1967, the northern end was truncated from New York state line to the intersection with modern Route 116 in Ridgefield.
