Comonfort is a Mexican city (and municipality) located in the state of Guanajuato. The United Mexican States ( or commonly Mexico (ˈmɛksɪkoʊ () is a federal constitutional Republic in North America. In pre-Columbian times the area of what is today Comomfort was known as Chamacuero, a word of Tarascan origen that means "To fall down" or "Place of ruins. The pre-Columbian era incorporates all period subdivisions in the history and prehistory of the Americas before the appearance of significant European influences "[3]

The municipal president of Comonfort and its many smaller outlying communities is Bricio Balderas Álvarez. [4]
