In pre-Columbian times the area of what is today Comomfort was known as Chamacuero, a word of Tarascan origen that means "To fall down" or "Place of ruins. The pre-Columbian era incorporates all period subdivisions in the history and prehistory of the Americas before the appearance of significant European influences "[3]
