Commander Naval Forces Korea is a major shore command of the United States Navy that serves as the shore support agency for all U. S. naval activity in South Korea. South Korea, officially the Republic of Korea and often referred to as Korea ( Korean: 대한민국 tɛː Known by the initials "CNFK", Commander Naval Forces Korea is headquartered in Seoul and operates port bases in Chinhae and Pusan. Seoul ( soʊl is the Capital and largest City of South Korea. Jinhae (formerly known as Chinhae is a city in South Gyeongsang Province South Korea.

CNFK is jointly under the command of the U.S. 7th Fleet and the United Nations Command. The Seventh Fleet is the United States Navy's permanent forward projection force based in Yokosuka, Japan, with units positioned near South Korea The United Nations ( UN) is an International organization whose stated aims are to facilitate cooperation in International law, International security CNFK is headed by a Rear Admiral (lower half) who serves as the Navy Liaison to the Commander of the U.S. Eighth Army. Rear admiral is a Naval Commissioned officer rank above that of a Commodore and Captain, and below that of a Vice Admiral. In times of war, CNFK augments to become a ground based task force of the Pacific Fleet.
