The Combat Reconnaissance Vehicle (Wheeled) (CVR(W) was a line of vehicles to replace the Ferret Armoured Car in British Army service. The Ferret armoured car, also commonly called the Ferret Scout car is a British Armoured fighting vehicle designed and built for Reconnaissance purposes The British Army is the land armed forces branch of the British Armed Forces.

Two variants were planned:

• Vixen - to replace Ferret in the liaison role, armed with no more than a light machine gun but with space for 4 including the crew.
• Fox (FV721) - fitted with a 30 mm cannon, the same as fitted to the Scimitar Armoured Reconnaissance Vehicle a member of the Combat Vehicle Reconnaissance (Tracked) family

FV107 Scimitar is an Armoured Reconnaissance Vehicle (sometimes classed as a light tank) The Combat Vehicle Reconnaissance (Tracked &mdashor CVR(T &mdashis a family of Armoured fighting vehicles in service with the British Army and others Fox was deployed with both regular army and Territorial Army units but gathered a poor image due to some accidents where the vehicle tipped over - probably due to a combination of the high centre of gravity and poor driving.
