In February of 2006, plans were announced for a new stadium to be built in the Arena District of downtown Columbus at the corner of Neil Ave. The Arena District is a 75-acre mixed-use urban infill master planned development located in downtown Columbus, Ohio. and Nationwide Blvd. The stadium, which will be called Huntington Park, is named for Huntington Bancshares Inc. as part of a naming rights deal. Huntington Park will be the new stadium for the Columbus Clippers, a Triple-A Minor league baseball Huntington Bancshares Inc ( is a $55 billion Midwestern Bank holding company headquartered in Columbus Ohio. Play is expected to begin at the new stadium in the 2009 season.
