Several years' good service in Queensland’s state teams spring-boarded Wynnum-Manly's Colin Scott into the Australian Test side for the one-off match against New Zealand in 1983. The Wynnum-Manly Seagulls are a Rugby league club based at Kougari Oval, which is in the suburb of Manly West in Brisbane, Queensland The New Zealand national rugby league side represents New Zealand in the sport of Rugby league. Despite 25 appearances for his state during his career (including 18 State of Origin appearances), Scott did not represent Australia again. State of Origin is an annual best-of-three series of Rugby league matches between the Maroons, representing the state of Queensland, and the Blues By the time the Broncos were admitted to the New South Wales Rugby League premiership, his top class career was all but over and he left the club after only one season. New South Wales Rugby League premiership was the first Rugby league football club competition established in Australia
In 2000, Scott was awarded the Australian Sports Medal for his contribution to Australia's international standing in rugby league. The Australian Sports Medal was an award given during 2000 to recognise achievements in Australian sport.
