The college has two main sites: the Goschen Centre in Keyham and the Kings Road Centre in Devonport, both residing in Plymouth, Devon. Keyham is an Edwardian suburb of Plymouth in the English county of Devon. Devonport, formerly named Plymouth Dock or just Dock, is a district of Plymouth in the English county of Devon, although it was at Plymouth ( is a city and unitary authority area on the coast of Devon, England about south west of London. Devon is a large county in the South West of England. The county is also referred to as Devonshire, but that is an entirely unofficial name The Kings Road Centre is built on the site of the former Devonport Kings Road railway station. Devonport Kings Road railway station was the London and South Western Railway station in Devonport, Devon, England. It is also a partner college of the University of Plymouth. The University of Plymouth is the largest University in the southwest of England, with over 30000 students and is the fifth largest UK university based on student The college was formerly known as the Plymouth College of Further Education but was officially renamed to City College Plymouth on the 1st of January 2007.

The college obtains approximately 27,500 enrolments every academic year, around 3,000 of which are full time and the rest being part time.

The college consists of 5 faculties and a strong Students' Union which is headed by President Shane Chowen, his executive committee consists of Vice Presidents AJ Knott and Bryan Kempthorne, Secretaries Alex Aichison and Megan Thorne with support from Treasurer Michael Adam Michaelson HadjiCharalampous Sturrock Thomson.
