Judd began playing with Carlton from the first round. Initially below full fitness due to a groin surgery, his ground time was limited, but in Round 3 he had over 30 possessions. His return match against West Coast at Subiaco Oval in Round 7 was widely anticipated in the media, and Carlton won by 37 points.
