Chapelizod (Séipéal Iosóid in Irish, meaning "Iseult's Chapel") is a village in Dublin, Ireland. Irish (ga ''Gaeilge'' is a Goidelic language of the Indo-European language family originating in Ireland and historically spoken by the Irish. Iseult (alternatively Isolde, Yseult, Isode, Isoude, Isotta) is the name of several characters in the Arthurian story of Dublin (ˈdʌblɨn/ /ˈdʊblɨn or /ˈdʊbəlɪn/, bˠalʲə aːha klʲiəh or cliə(ɸ is both the largest city and capital of Ireland. Ireland (pronounced /ˈaɾlənd/ Éire) is the third largest island in Europe, and the twentieth-largest island in the world

Chapelizod village is located west of Dublin city. It lies along the River Liffey and is bordered to the west by Palmerstown, to the north-west by the Strawberry Beds, to the south by part of Ballyfermot and the main western thoroughfare out of Dublin city, the N4 road, and to the north by the Phoenix Park. The Liffey ( An Life in Irish) is a River in Ireland, which flows through the centre of Dublin. Palmerstown (Baile Phámar is a suburban area of Dublin, Ireland located to the west of the city centre in the county of South Dublin. Ballyfermot (Irish Baile Formaid) is a suburb in the city of Dublin, Ireland, located 7 kilometers due west from the city centre and to the south of Road standard The road is a Dual carriageway from O'Connell Bridge, Dublin to Mullingar (including the motorway section The Phoenix Park (Páirc an Fhionn-Uisce is the largest enclosed urban public Park in Europe located 3 km to the north west of Dublin city centre in Ireland It is very close to the Cromlech in Phoenix Park. Cromlech is a Brythonic word ( Breton / Welsh) used to describe Prehistoric Megalithic structures where crom means "bent"

Chapelizod is possibly the oldest village in Dublin and in fact outdates Dublin City. The Anna Livia bridge in Chapelizod is the oldest and best-built masonry bridge of its kind in Ireland. The Phoenix Park Distillery was the only Scottish-owned distillery in Ireland until prohibition in the US led to its decline and eventual demise. The Distillery lay vacant for many years before being burned down and eventually demolished.

Interesting buildings in the village include St Laurence's Church, and a house mentioned by Le Fanu in his ghost stories (it is not entirely clear which building this is). Joseph Thomas Sheridan Le Fanu (28 August 1814 &ndash 7 February 1873 was an Irish writer of Gothic tales and mystery novels

Every year, the Chapelizod Community Festival is held between the 1st and 2nd Sundays in July. First held in 1994, the festival has grown to be one of the highlights of the summer. The festival is run by volunteers and funded mainly by local business sponsors.
