In the early Three Kingdoms period, Changnyeong was the seat of Bihwa Gaya, a member of the Gaya confederacy which was later conquered by Silla. The Three Kingdoms of Korea ( refer to the ancient Korean kingdoms of Goguryeo, Baekje and Silla, which dominated the Korean peninsula Bihwa Gaya also known as Bijabal, was one of the kingdoms of the Gaya confederacy during the Three Kingdoms Period.
