It currently comprises 178 deputies who are elected for four-year terms. Chamber of deputies is the name given to a legislative body such as the Lower house of a Bicameral legislature or can refer to a Unicameral legislature Congressional elections are held in even numbered years not divisible by four, when the entire Chamber and Senate are replaced.
Deputies are elected by preferencial vote and en bloc by provinces, with one deputy per 50,000 inhabitants or fraction in excess of 25,000, and a guaranteed minimum of two per province.
