Ceelwaaq or Ceel Waaq or El Wak in English (somali: Ceel Waaq) is a town in Gedo region of Somalia. Gedo ( Geedo) is an administrative region ( gobolka) formerly part of the historic Upper Juba Region, Somalia. Somalia ( Soomaaliya; الصومال) officially the Somali Republic ( Jamhuuriyadda Soomaaliya, جمهورية الصومال) and formerly known Ceel Waaq is the seat of one of Gedo region's seven districts.

The town of El Wak is situated near the border of Somalia and Kenya. The Republic of Kenya is a country in East Africa. It is bordered by Ethiopia to the north Somalia to the northeast Tanzania to the south The district of El Wak is bordered by Bardera and Garbahaarreey districts on the east, and North Eastern District of Kenya on the west. Bardera City ( Somali Baardheere) is an important agricultural and academic city in the Gedo region of Somalia. Garbahaarey is the capital of Gedo, the second largest and sixth most populous region ( gobolka) of Somalia.

In Af Soomaali language, the word Ceel means well. Somali ( Af Soomaali, الصوماليه is a member of the East Cushitic branch of the Afro-Asiatic language family spoken by ethnic Somalis Many cities and towns in Somalia have that word in front of it indicating the importance of water wells for mostly pastoral populations of Somalia. The name El Wak is derived from a water-well which was used by area herders and it's still utilized to this date.

One of the last local conflicts in Gedo region took place in June 2005. Tribal disputes between Talhe of Marehan and Garre occurred. There was some death during the conflict which lasted for a few weeks until Jubba Valley Alliance mediated waring functions.
