Castletown Shoppingworld is a shopping centre in Townsville, Australia. The second-largest centre in the district, Castletown has four major tenants along with 105 specialty stores, and is owned by Mcconaghy Properties.
Castletown recently completed an expansion project that included a new Target department store (replacing the existing store) and an extra 40 specialty stores and a 450-seat food court. Target Australia Pty Ltd is an Australian department store chain owned by Wesfarmers (formerly by Coles Group) The expansion opened on 13 June 2007. The last expansion that the shopping centre undertook was in 1997 with the addition of an expanded Woolworths Supermarket and an Action Supermarket. Action (formerly Action Food Barns and Action Supermarkets) is a defunct Australian Supermarket chain Basement parking was also included.
In 2005, centre owners Mcconaghy Properties brought out many properties on the adjacent side of Barryman street, the southern border of the shopping centre complex. It is assumed that Barryman St will be realigned over the existing properties to allow expansion of the centre at a latter date.
