Carol Emshwiller (b. 1921 in Ann Arbor, Michigan) is a writer of avant garde short stories and science fiction who has won prizes ranging from the Nebula Award award to the Philip K. Dick Award. She is the widow of the artist and experimental filmmaker Ed Emshwiller. Ed Emshwiller (February 16 1925-July 27 1990 was a Visual artist notable for illustrations of many Science fiction Magazine covers and for his pioneering Their daughter Susan Emshwiller co-wrote the movie Pollock (film). Pollock is a 2000 biographical film which tells the life story of painter Jackson Pollock. Their son Peter is the author of two novels.
