Clary Butler, the group's trumpeter, started his career with Wilson Pickett before forming the Groovers with his sister in 1970. Wilson Pickett ( March 18, 1941 – January 19, 2006) was an American R&B / Rock and Roll and soul Year 1970 ( MCMLXX) was a Common year starting on Thursday (link shows full calendar of the Gregorian calendar. Other members were: Leon "Shorty" Harris (Saxophone), David Stevens (Bass), John Scott (Guitar).


The band released two singles: "Right On" b/w "The Thing", and their most famous track "Can We Rap?". This track was reissued by Jazzman Records in the UK, sparking renewed interest in the band in the 21st century. Jazzman Records is a Record label founded by London DJ Gerald Short in 1998, specialising in re-releasing hard-to-find Jazz "The Thing" subsequently appeared on Now Again's first Cold Heat compilation.
