The school regularly sends teams to state competitions often taking out the state championship itself. Numerous individuals have won Premiers awards this year as well as in previous years, a group of awards given to the best students in an academic field. The school was briefly held by Melbourne High School during World War II as the Royal Australian Navy was using Melbourne High School as a training base.
