Schools

Calderwood is also home to four primary schools: Long Calderwood Primary, Maxwellton Primary, Greenburn Primary and Hunter Primary. Up until the summer of 2007, there was also one secondary school in the area named Hunter High. However, it merged with the nearby Claremont High school in St Leonards to form Calderglen High. St Leonards is an area of the Scottish New town East Kilbride, in South Lanarkshire. This new school resided in the existing Claremont High campus until February 2008, when a new campus opened as part of a Modernisation Programme in South Lanarkshire to replace or upgrade all secondary schools in the area. [2] The four primary schools are also in the process of modernisation under a similar project.
