CBC TV 8's first sign-on was in 1964 on channel 3; it later moved to channel 9 in 1984 and its current channel position, channel 8, in 1991.
Some of CBC TV 8's local programs include "Book Talk" with Jeff Broomes, "Morning Barbados" every weekday from 6:00 to 8:00 a. m. with "Pearson Bowen and Belle Holder", "Chat Room" with "John King and Cassandra Samuels" from 11:00 a. The term chat room, or chatroom, is primarily used by Mass media to describe any form of Synchronous conferencing, occasionally even Asynchronous conferencing m to 1:00 p. m. and "Time to Sing" every Sunday afternoon which is a religious programme and the longest running local program on air.
The station's one-hour news broadcast is at 7. 00 pm during weekdays and half-hour on weekends, and is anchored by Marsha Branch, Deri Bowen, and Pearson Bowen.
The station also shows movies late at night, and soaps The Young and The Restless at 11.
