History

The village is known as one of the former homes of Laura Ingalls Wilder (author of the Little House on the Prairie books) (1876-1877). Laura Ingalls Wilder ( February 7, 1867 – February 10, 1957) was an American Author, who wrote the Little House series Little House on the Prairie is a children's book by Laura Ingalls Wilder that was published in 1935 This is where Grace Ingalls, the youngest of the Ingalls children, was born in 1877. Grace Pearl Ingalls Dow ( May 23, 1877 &ndash November 10, 1941) was born in Burr Oak Iowa as the fifth and last child of There is a Laura Ingalls Wilder Museum in the local Masters Hotel.
