Bucheon is a city in Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. Bucheon's institutions of higher education include: Bucheon College, Yuhan College, Catholic University of Korea Bucheon campus, and Seoul Theological University. Bucheon College is a private technical college in Bucheon City Gyeonggi province South Korea. Yuhan College is a private college in Sosa-gu Bucheon City Gyeonggi province South Korea. The Catholic University of Korea is a leading Roman Catholic institution of higher education in South Korea.

Modern history

In 1914, some areas of Incheon City and Bupyeong County were joined together under the name Bucheon. Incheon is a metropolitan city and a major seaport on the west coast of South Korea, near Seoul. Bupyeong-gu is one of the 10 administrative divisions (eight wards and two counties that comprise Incheon, South Korea In 1931, Gyenam township (myeon, 계남면) was renamed Sosa township (myeon, 소사면). In 1941, Sosa township promoted to eup (town) status. [1] After independence from Japan, the westernmost area of Bucheon was set apart and joined to Incheon city once again. January 1 1963, several districts were combined to form Yeongdeungpo-gu (영등포구) of Seoul Metropolitan City as below. Yeongdeungpo-gu is an administrative district in southwest Seoul, Korea. Seoul ( soʊl is the Capital and largest City of South Korea. [2]

In 1988, two districts were established. Bucheon was divided into Nam-gu ("south", 남구) and Jung-gu ("central", 중구) around the Seoul-Incheon trainline.

In 1993, Bucheon's Jung-gu was separated into two further districts, forming Wonmi (원미구) and Ojeong (오정구) Districts.
