The area surrounding Bruma Lake has been extensively redeveloped in the last few years. It is now largely occupied by a small mall known as Asia City. The mall mainly sells goods imported from abroad.

Excellent transport links serve Bruma with the R24 (Gauteng), N12 (South Africa) and N3 Eastern Bypass (South Africa) highways all easily accessible. The R24 is a major East-West Regional Route in the Greater Johannesburg Metropolitan Area that links Johannesburg International Airport with Magaliesburg The N3 Eastern Bypass is a section of the Johannesburg Ring Road that forms a beltway around the city of Johannesburg, South Africa. The R24 highway leads directly to Johannesburg Airport (approximately 15 minutes drive from Bruma).
