The Brooklyn Underground Film Festival is an annual showcase of typically low-budget, under-distributed and/or amateur videos and metavideos. An amateur is generally considered a person attached to a particular pursuit study or science without formal training or pay Over the last few years, the festival has been held in late April in the Park Slope neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York. Park Slope is a neighborhood in the western section of Brooklyn, New York City's most populous borough.
The festival was founded in 2002 by graduates of Pratt Institute, Josh Koury, Myles Kane, and Cris Moris. Pratt Institute is a specialized private college in New York City with campuses in Manhattan and Brooklyn, as well as in Utica New York It is funded in part by a growing number of local businesses.
The Brooklyn Underground Film Festival proudly continues its tradition of being one of New York's premier festivals for new and emerging filmmakers to showcase their films.
