She began singing at the age of three in her home church, Truth Temple of Kannapolis, North Carolina. WAXN-TV is an independent television station in Charlotte North Carolina. In high school, she was a member of her school's advanced chorus group, and had the opportunity to perform with them at Carnegie Hall in New York.
