Brimson is a community in St. Louis County, Minnesota, USA, located 50-miles northeast of the city of Duluth on County Highway 44. Brimson has a volunteer fire department, but it only has access to water hauled by truck since there is no public water system.
History
Settlers began moving into the area when the Duluth, Missabe and Iron Range Railway was completed in 1884. The Duluth Missabe and Iron Range Railway (DM&IR was a Railroad operating in northern Minnesota and Wisconsin to haul Iron ore and later The Brimson depot was later built at the Allen Junction. Brimson was named after its founder, Walter Henry Brimson, an official from the said railroad company. His brother, William George Brimson, has the town of Brimson, Missouri named after him. Brimson is a village in Grundy County, Missouri, United States. The family came from Tiverton in Devon, England. Tiverton is an English town in the County of Devon. The administrative centre for the Mid Devon district its population is about 18500 Devon is a large county in the South West of England. The county is also referred to as Devonshire, but that is an entirely unofficial name Their parents, Elias and Mary, emigrated with the rest of the children in the 1850s.
