Bratsbergbanen is a railway line in Telemark county which runs between Eidanger and Notodden. Eidanger Station is a disused Railway station in Porsgrunn, Norway on Bratsbergbanen. is a county in Norway, bordering Vestfold, Buskerud, Hordaland, Rogaland and Aust-Agder. Eidanger is a former rural Parish and Municipality of Telemark county Norway. is a city and municipality in the county of Telemark, Norway. At Skien, the line continues as Vestfoldbanen. The line was opened in 1917, connecting the older Tinnosbanen to the rest of the rail network. Events Bratsbergbanen railway line began traffic between Eidanger and Notodden. Along the route, the line crosses Sørlandsbanen and shares the Nordagutu station with that line. Nordagutu is a village in the municipality of Sauherad, Norway. The tallest bridge on the Norwegian rail system, the 65 metre tall Hjukse Bru truss arch bridge, is on Bratsbergbanen. The Norwegian railway system comprises 4087 km of Standard gauge (1435 mm track of which 2622 km is electrified and 219 km Double track A truss arch Bridge combines the elements of the Truss bridge and the Arch bridge. The original use of Bratsbergbanen was to connect the Norsk Hydro's fertilizer plant in Rjukan to the port in Skien. Like several other Norwegian branch lines, Bratsbergbanen has had a troubled history. It was closed between October 2000 and August 2001.
