The Bhaca people are mainly found in the small towns of the former Transkei, Mount Frere and UMzimkhulu, and some surrounding areas. The Transkei —which means "the area beyond the Kei River"—is a region situated in the Eastern Cape of South Africa. The language spoken by these people is isiBhaca. They are called "AmaBhaca". The name comes from 'ukubhaca', Nguni is for fleeing. They fled from the present day KwaZulu Natal after a BIG-Clash with the then Zulu King Shaka. Shaka (sometimes spelled Tshaka, Tchaka or Chaka; ca 1787 – ca They were led their Mighty King Madzikane into the present-day Eastern Cape. Madzikane is still a very respected King in Mount Frere among the Bhaca people.
