Bernardo Carvalho (Rio de Janeiro, 1960) is a Brazilian author and journalist. Rio de Janeiro ("River of January" ˈhiw dʒi ʒʌˈnejɾu in Brazilian Portuguese, /ˈriːoʊ di ʒəˈnɛroʊ/ in English is the second largest city of Brazil An author is defined both as "the person who originates or gives existence to anything" and that authorship determines responsibility for what is created A journalist (also called a newspaperman) is a person who practices Journalism, the gathering and dissemination of information about current events trends He was the editor of “Folhetim,” a collection of essays, and is a Paris and New York correspondent for Folha de São Paulo. Folha de SPaulo is a Portuguese language Newspaper published in São Paulo. His first two novels were edited in France.

His novel "Mongólia" received the 2003 prize of the Associação Paulista dos Críticos de Arte. He shared the Premio Portugal Telecom de Literatura Brasileira with Dalton Trevisan for his novel "Nove Noites. "
