Benthorn is a hamlet in the Dutch province of South Holland. The Netherlands ( Dutch:, ˈnedərlɑnt is the European part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, which consists of the Netherlands the Netherlands South Holland ( Dutch:) is a province situated on the North Sea in the western part of the Netherlands. It is located in the municipality of Rijnwoude, about 2 km east of the centre of Benthuizen. Rijnwoude (population 18986 in 2004 is a municipality in the western Netherlands, in the province of South Holland. Benthuizen ( is a village in the Dutch province of South Holland.
Benthorn was a separate municipality between 1817 and 1846, when it became part of Benthuizen. [1] Part of the hamlet had to be demolished for the construction of the high speed railway HSL-Zuid, and only three farms remain. HSL-Zuid ( Hogesnelheidslijn Zuid, Southern High-Speed Line is a 125-km long high-speed railway line under construction between the Netherlands and The name of the hamlet is no longer printed on recent topographical maps of the area.
