The Basingstoke Observer is a local newspaper for the Basingstoke and surrounding areas of north Hampshire, England. A newspaper is a written Publication containing News, information and Advertising, usually printed on low-cost paper called Newsprint. Basingstoke is a town in northeast Hampshire, England It lies across a Valley at the source of the River Loddon. Wildlife Hampshire has wildlife typical of the island of Great Britain England is a Country which is part of the United Kingdom. Its inhabitants account for more than 83% of the total UK population whilst its mainland The newspaper is published weekly, and is available free for readers to 'pick up' from various shops and public outlets in and around Basingstoke. Basingstoke Property Weekly is inserted as a free supplement.

The newspaper was launched in association with local radio station Kestrel FM in 2000, and was owned by the Milestone Group until it was sold in a management buyout in September 2006, it's owners now being Tri-Media Publishing. 2000 ( MM) was a Leap year that started on Saturday of the Common Era, in accordance with the Gregorian calendar. The Milestone Group is a British media company, which originally had holdings in Radio, Publishing and Television, but Its weekly circulation figure is advertised as 23,000 copies.

It was a sister publication to the South Oxfordshire Courier and Oxford Journal until the Courier and Journal were put into administration in 2007. The South Oxfordshire Courier was a Free newspaper distributed throughout the towns of Abingdon, Wantage, Faringdon, Wallingford and The Oxford Journal is a Free newspaper distributed throughout the city of Oxford and the county of Oxfordshire, UK.
