Banff lies on the west bank, and Macduff on the east bank of the mouth of the River Deveron, around 25 miles west of Fraserburgh and 45 miles north of Aberdeen. Banff and surrounding areas have a local football team, Deveronvale F.C., and a rugby team, Banff RFC. Deveronvale FC is a senior football club currently playing the Highland Football League in Scotland. Duff House Royal Golf course is bordered by the River Deveron and Duff House.
