Avery Cardoza (b. 1957) is an author and publisher. Avery Cardoza was born in Brooklyn, New York. Brooklyn (named after the Dutch town Breukelen) is one of the five boroughs of New York City. At an early age he had a propensity for mathematics, which he studied at Vassar College. Vassar College is a private Coeducational, liberal arts college situated in the town of Poughkeepsie, New York, USA. He used his mathematical skills to learn card counting techniques, and wrote his first book "Winning Casino Blackjack for the Non-Counter" at the age of 23. This was after he was banned from many casinos because of his winning techniques. He currently resides in Las Vegas and New York City, and his company maintains worldwide offices in London and Moscow.
Cardoza regularly competes against the best poker players in the world in the high stakes poker tournaments seen on television. His other book publishing company, Open Road Publishing (worldwide travel guides) and imprint Cold Spring Press (fantasy/science fiction), started in 1993 with a partner, has 75 titles on the shelves and an Amazon top-30 seller to its credit.
Cardoza is a five-time Gold and Platinum award-winning designer (48th annual awards, National Paperbox Association) and the author of the 432 page “bible” on publishing, The Complete Guide to Successful Publishing, a book the Publisher’s Marketing Association called “the most comprehensive guide on publishing…maybe ever. ” He has designed hundreds of packaging concepts for books, multimedia software, magazines, direct mailers, brochures, with dozens of retail bestsellers to his design credit.
