The Athari methodology of textual interpretation is to avoid delving into extensive theological speculation. They believe in Allah and his characteristics only in the fashion that they were mentioned in the Quran, the Sunnah and by the Sahabah. Allah ( Arabic: الله, ʔalˤːɑːh) is the standard Arabic word for ' The Qur’an ( القرآن, literally "the recitation" also sometimes transliterated as Qur’ān, Koran, Alcoran Sunnah ar (سنة plural سنن Sunan literally means “trodden path” and therefore the sunnah of the prophet means “the way and the manners of the prophet” In Islam, the Ṣaḥābah (الصحابة "Companions" were the companions of the Islamic prophet Muḥammad. They do not attempt to further interpret the aforementioned texts through tahreef (distortion), ta‘weel (figurative interpretation), tamtheel (making a likeness), tashbeeh (resemblance), nor ta’teel (denial).
