Artery is a character from Darren Shan's Demonata series of books. Darren O'Shaughnessy (born July 2, 1972 in London, England) who commonly writes under the pen name Darren Shan, is an Irish The Demonata is a series of books by best selling author Darren Shan He is a demon with green skin, flames for eyeballs, insects (that vary) constantly eating his scalp and a small mouth in each of its palms filled with sharp teeth (but no tongue). His bodily proportions are similar to a toddler's, but he has a much bigger head than any human. He is Lord Loss's favourite familiar, and was partnered with Vein (a wolf demon with a crocodile's head and a woman's hands), until she was killed for disobeying Lord Loss. Lord Loss is the Demon Lord from Darren Shan 's 10 book series The Demonata. He had appeared in every book up to (and including) Demon Apocalypse (although his appearance in 'Bec' is debatable as there is a demon with a similar description to him but it is not named).

Lord Loss: Artery appeared during the massacre of Grubbs family, and fought Grubbs while Dervish was playing chess against Lord Loss
Demon Thief: Artery was stolen by Kernel, and Kernel used enormous amounts of magic to sculpt his features into that of a two year old human. Lord Loss is the first novel in The facitous Demonata series book by best-selling teenage horror author Darren Shan. Demon Thief is a book in Darren Shan 's Demonata series Though it is the second book in the series it is a prequel to Lord Loss
Slawter: Artery does not have a big part in this book, but he appeared beside Lord Loss during the slaughter. Slawter is the third book in the The Demonata series (4th chronologically written by Darren Shan.
Bec: His appearance in this book is debatable. Bec (meaning Little One) MacConn is a Fictional character in Darren Shan 's Demonata series and title narrator of When Bec is being killed, there is a line 'Hands reach inside me and pull out my guts'. This is Artery's preferred method of killing; the book also mentions a demon with a baby's body and mentions the fire in its eyes also dimming.
Blood Beast: He appears on the plane at the end, ripping a man's face off and is fed half of someone's face by his master, Lord Loss. Blood Beast is the fifth book in Darren Shan 's The Demonata series and was released 4th June 2007 Lord Loss is the first novel in The facitous Demonata series book by best-selling teenage horror author Darren Shan.
Demon Apocalypse: Artery appears first on the plane killing the passengers, he is next seen fighting Grubbs and the others when the demons get through the tunnel, then in the cave (from Bec)fighting Beranabus and Grubbs until he is killed by Bec in the cave before the end of the book. Darren Shan released the title of the book on the 29th of September 2007 at the Baeth Festival of Children's Literature
Importance
Artery had appeared to be the most important demon, besides Lord Loss. He has definitely appeared in five books, and may have appeared in Bec (See above). It is strange that Artery is/was so important to Lord Loss as he is not one of the most powerful demons. At the end of Demon Apocalypse, Artery is killed by Bec.
