Biography

The band's main composer, singer/songwriter James Malone, did all the guitar, vocals, and bass work on every studio album. His main influences include King Diamond, Iron Maiden, At the Gates, Morbid Angel, In Flames, Dimmu Borgir and Dissection. King Diamond is the heavy metal band that King Diamond formed after the split up of his First Wave of Black metal band Mercyful Fate. For other uses see Iron maiden. At the Gates was a Swedish Melodic death metal band from Gothenburg. Morbid Angel is an American Death metal band based in Tampa Florida. In Flames is a Death metal band formed in Gothenburg, Sweden in 1990 and is considered to be a pioneer and major influence to the melodic death metal genre Dimmu Borgir (ˌdɪmuːˈbɔːrɡɪr is a Symphonic black metal band from Norway. Dissection was a Blackened death metal band from Strömstad, Sweden.

Mike Van Dyne quit Arsis in early 2007 to further his education; it has been confirmed that he will not be playing live with the band again.

Noah Martin did in fact play bass on the album, United in Regret.

On August 30th 2007, Noah Martin posted a message on the bands myspace saying:

"Unfortunately, we have decided to part ways with Mike Parks.

When James' voice went out a couple tours ago, Mike did us the biggest favor by filling in for as long as he did. I know I speak for everyone in Arsis when I say we couldn't imagine anyone else doing a better job. However, we felt that with the new album right around the corner, we needed to move on with Arsis in the Arsis way -- with James back on vocals.

We wish him nothing but the best, as we'll always be friends.

Arsis heads into the studio September 3rd, to begin recording 'We Are The Nightmare,' our third full length album, to be released on Nuclear Blast International. Watch out for us on the road in November with Enslaved and January with Exodus. Check our myspace for dates!
