The Anglican Diocese of Armidale is a diocese of the Anglican Church of Australia, located in the state of New South Wales, and like the Dioceses of Sydney and North-West Australia is noted for its Evangelical teaching. In many rites of the Roman Catholic Church and in Anglican churches, a diocese is an administrative territorial unit administered by a Bishop. The Anglican Church of Australia, a member church of the Anglican Communion, was previously officially known as the Church of England in Australia and Tasmania (renamed The Diocese of Sydney, in the Anglican Church of Australia, is unusual in that the majority of the diocese is Evangelical and Low church in tradition and The Anglican Diocese of North West Australia is a diocese of the Anglican Church of Australia, noted for its Evangelical stance Evangelicalism is a theological movement tradition and system of beliefs most closely associated with Protestant Christianity, which identifies with the Gospel
The diocese includes the regional cities of Tamworth and Armidale and the towns of Glen Innes, Tenterfield, Inverell, Moree, Gunnedah and Narrabri. Tamworth is a city in the New England region of New South Wales, Australia Armidale (population 21660 is a university and cathedral city in northern New South Wales, Australia, in Armidale Dumaresq Council Glen Innes is a town on the Northern Tablelands, in the New England region of New South Wales, Australia. Tenterfield, is a town parish and Local Government Area (see Tenterfield Shire Council) in New South Wales, Australia. Inverell is a town in the north of New South Wales, Australia, situated on the Macintyre River. Moree is a large town in Moree Plains Shire in northern New South Wales, Australia. Gunnedah is a town and Local government area (see Gunnedah Shire Council) in north-western New South Wales, Australia. Narrabri is a town and seat of Narrabri Shire Council Local Government Area in north-central New South Wales, Australia.
The cathedral church of the diocese is St Peter's Cathedral, Armidale, and the current Bishop of Armidale is The Right Reverend Dr Peter Brain. A bishop is an ordained or consecrated member of the Christian clergy who is generally entrusted with a position of authority and oversight Right Reverend Dr Peter Brain is the current Bishop of Armidale in the Anglican Church of Australia.

Link Diocese
Following a 2004 synod visit by Bishop Edward Muhima of the Diocese of North Kigezi in Uganda, there has been a forging of a support link between the two Diocese.
