Neighboring districts are (from the north clockwise) Kosum Phisai, Mueang Maha Sarakham, Wapi Pathum, Na Chueak and Kut Rang. Kosum Phisai (โกสุมพิสัย is a district ( Amphoe) in the northern part of Maha Sarakham Province, northeastern Thailand Mueang Maha Sarakham (เมืองมหาสารคาม is the capital district ( Amphoe Mueang) of Maha Sarakham Province, northeastern Wapi Pathum (วาปีปทุม is a district ( Amphoe) of Maha Sarakham Province, northeastern Thailand. History

In 1897 the district was established, then named Patchin Sarakham (ปจิมสารคาม). 1913 it was renamed to Thakhon Yang (ท่าขรยาง). [1] In 1914 the governor of Maha Sarakham granted the new name Borabue (at first spelled บ่อระบือ, later shortened to บรบือ).

Administration

The district is subdivided into 15 subdistricts (tambon), which are further subdivided into 203 villages (muban). Tambon (ตำบล is a local government unit in Thailand. Below District ( Amphoe) and Province ( Changwat Muban (หมู่บ้าน is the lowest administrative subdivision of Thailand. Borabue is a township (thesaban tambon) which covers parts of tambon Borabue. Thesaban (เทศบาล are the municipalities in Thailand. There are further 15 Tambon administrative organizations (TAO).
