Early life in Maine and New Hampshire
Felch was born in Limerick, Maine. Limerick (pronounced "LIM-rick" is a town in York County, Maine, United States. He was left an orphan at the age of three and lived with his grandfather Abijah Felch, a veteran of the American Revolutionary War. Felch moved to Monroe, Michigan in 1833 and continued the practice of law. Monroe is a city in the US state of Michigan. In the 2000 census, the city population was 22076 He was elected three times to the Michigan State House of Representatives, serving from 1835 to 1837.
