Presidential candidacy

Larijani was a presidential candidate for the 2005 presidential elections, where he ranked sixth, winning 5. 2008 parliamentary election

In the March 2008 parliamentary election, Larijani won a seat from Qom. Legislative elections for Majlis of Iran were held on 14 March 2008, with a second round held on 25 April 2008.
