Aiani (Greek: Αιανή)[1] is a municipality in the Kozani Prefecture, 20 km south of Kozani city, West Macedonia, Greece. Greek (el ελληνική γλώσσα or simply el ελληνικά — "Hellenic" is an Indo-European language, spoken today by 15-22 million people mainly Kozani (Κοζάνη is a prefecture in Greece, located in western Macedonia. Kozani (Κοζάνη is a city in northern Greece, capital of Kozani Prefecture and of West Macedonia Periphery. West Macedonia is one of the thirteen peripheries of Greece, consisting of the western part of the region of Macedonia. History

Aiani was the capital of Elimiotis, a kingdom and region of Upper Macedonia, which became part of Macedon in early 4th century BC. Elimiotis or Elimeia was a region of Upper Macedonia that was located along the Haliacmon, north of Perrhaibia/ Thessaly, west of Pieria Upper Macedonia ( Greek: Ἄνω Μακεδονία Ánō Makedonía) is a geographical and tribal term to describe the regions that became part of the kingdom of Macedon or Macedonia ( Greek grc Μακεδονία grc-Latn Makedonía) was the name of a kingdom centered in the northern-most The 4th century BC started the first day of 400 BC and ended the last day of 301 BC.

Since 1983, systematic excavations in the area have brought to light finds that attest the existence of an organised city from the 2nd millennium BC to 100 BC. These are now housed in the Aiane Archaeological Museum. Aiane Archaeological Museum is a Museum in Aiane, Greece. Although the museum was inaugurated in 1970 with a collection of antiquities of the ancient The excavations in the city of Aiani, brought to light the oldest pieces of matt-painted (black and wight) pottery ever found. Some of the pottery dates back to the 14th century BC (Μycenaean era). Mycenaean Greece is a cultural period of ancient Greece taking its name from the archaeological site of Mycenae in northeastern Argolis, in the Peloponnese Amongst the pottery, some of the oldest samples of writing were found. Amongst them we have names inscribed like Πλεόνα {Pleona) and Θέμιδα (Themida), which prove that the society of Macedonia, spoke and wrote Greek before the 5th century BC[2][3].
