Abbekerk () is a town in the Dutch province of North Holland. The Netherlands ( Dutch:, ˈnedərlɑnt is the European part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, which consists of the Netherlands the Netherlands North Holland ( Dutch: Noord-Holland,, West Frisian: Noôrd-Holland) is a province situated on the North Sea in the It is a part of the municipality of Noorder-Koggenland, and lies about 9 km north of Hoorn. Noorder-Koggenland is a former Municipality in the Netherlands, in the province of North Holland. Hoorn ( West Frisian: Hoorn) is a municipality and a town in the Netherlands, in the province of Noord Holland.
It received city rights in 1414. City rights are a medieval phenomenon in the history of the Low Countries. The church of Abbekerk has a tower dating from 1656. Until 1979, Abbekerk was a separate municipality.
In 2001, the town of Abbekerk had 1768 inhabitants. The built-up area of the town was 0. 37 km², and contained 689 residences. [1] The wider statistical area of Abbekerk has a population of around 1980. [2]
